Americas

Research on the Americas region analyses the United States, Canada, and Latin America within a global context.

Our research concentrates heavily on the changing international role of the United States, with the independent, international reputation of The Viyug enabling analysis with a unique external perspective on the US. But the region as a whole includes emerging powers that play increasingly important roles in contemporary international relations. So we also examine the international role of Canada and Latin America, as well as domestic political, economic, and social changes taking place within these states, and across the Americas.

Our programmatic research includes highly graded works on the US-China confrontation and its global consequences; key issues for the transatlantic relationship, especially China, the Middle East (especially Iran), and the trade; US national security and economic policy; America’s electoral democracy and domestic institutions; Latin America and the global economy; borders and migration in Latin America; democracy and institutions, and infrastructure in Latin America.
